This historical fiction novel is a sweeping drama of adventure, romance, intrigue, and military medicine against the background of the Napoleonic War. It is a 19th-century coming of age story where an aspiring young man learns the meanings of courage, duty, and true love. Dr. Stulc is eminently qualified to write such a book. He is a retired surgeon, and served for sixteen years as a flight surgeon and Captain for the Navy and Marines in the United States Naval Reserves. As a student of military and medical history, the
novel incorporates extensive research as well as his direct experiences as a military and trauma doctor.
